The Josh Goblowsky Story (And the Dream It Just Funded in Bellevue)

The Josh Goblowsky story doesn’t start with books or donations. It starts with a moment that could have changed everything.

At just three years old, Josh was in a devastating car accident involving two semi-trucks. He suffered a massive traumatic brain injury and spent months in a coma and rehabilitation. At the time, doctors weren’t sure what his future would look like.

If you’ve followed our community, you’ve seen parts of this journey before. During March, which is brain injury awareness month, we shared more about Josh’s recovery, the long-term challenges he still faces, and the resilience that continues to define his life.  You can read about Josh’s story of resilience here

But the Josh Goblowsky story didn’t stop there.

If you want to understand the full Josh’s entire story – from his injury to how he’s now funding dreams for other children – this video tells it better than we ever could.

A Dream That Changed Everything

When Josh was nine years old, his family was introduced to the Sunshine Foundation.

Through their generosity, Josh received a dream trip to Disney World.

For most families, that would be the end of the story.

For Josh, it became the beginning of something much bigger.

That experience stayed with him. It wasn’t just a trip, it was a moment of joy during one of the most difficult seasons of his life.

And years later, he decided to do something about it.

Turning His Story Into Something That Helps Others

In his early 20s, Josh wrote and published two children’s books, Josh’s World and Josh’s Friends, inspired by his own experiences.

But what makes the Josh Goblowsky story different is what he chose to do next.

He didn’t keep the proceeds.

Josh donates 100% of the purchase price from his books to the Sunshine Foundation. Even the cost of printing is covered separately, ensuring every dollar goes toward helping other children.

So far, those donations have already funded multiple dreams.

And now, they’ve brought us to this moment.

As part of the Josh Goblowsky story, Josh presents a big check to the Sunshine Foundation.

A Full Circle Moment in Bellevue

This week at American Academies of Martial Arts, we’re honored to host a Dream Come True presentation for Theodore, an 11-year-old local boy.

Theodore will soon be traveling to Universal Orlando Resort to meet the Minions.

His dream has been funded through Josh’s generosity.

That’s what makes the Josh Goblowsky story so powerful.

It’s not just about overcoming something difficult.

It’s about taking that experience and turning it into something that helps someone else.

Why This Story Matters Right Now

There are a lot of stories about resilience.

There are fewer stories about what happens after.

The Josh Goblowsky story is about what happens when someone chooses to give back. And not somebody who has been blessed beyond belief, somebody who has struggled through unimaginable hardships, and still chooses to give and help others.

It’s about a child who once received a dream…

…now making sure other children get theirs.
