When you think of Halloween colors, orange and green might make you picture pumpkins, leaves, or even friendly monsters.
But here in Bellevue, those colors represent something even better, growth and personal power.
This month at American Academies of Martial Arts, two of our students, Coda and Henna, leveled up their sashes: Coda earned her green sash, and Henna achieved her orange sash. Their accomplishments are more than seasonal fun. They’re reminders of how Kung Fu helps children build confidence, discipline, and self-control all year long.
If you’re exploring kids martial arts in Bellevue, Coda and Henna’s story is a perfect example of how progress on the mat helps kids thrive everywhere else.
Sisters in Motion: Grace Meets Grit
Coda and Henna started Kung Fu several years ago and continue to train alongside their dance practice.
Coda, calm and thoughtful, moves with the rhythm and control of a dancer, because she is one. Her new green sash reflects balance, progress, and renewal, just like the season itself.
Henna, whose orange sash shines as bright as her personality, brings boundless energy to everything she does. She loves games like sharks and minnows and never hesitates to jump into a new challenge.
Their mom, Jenny, sees the difference daily:
“Coda is learning to be assertive, and Henna is learning to bring it down a notch. Kung Fu has helped both of them grow into themselves.”
Why Kids Martial Arts in Bellevue Works for Confidence and Focus
Both sisters are active in dance, and the overlap between the arts is clear. The flexibility and rhythm they practice in dance improve their kicks and stances in Kung Fu. In return, the structure and focus they learn here sharpen their memory and coordination on stage.
As Mr. G often says,
“Kung Fu is the only thing I know of that makes a person better at anything.”
That philosophy plays out every day on our mat. Whether kids love dance, baseball, or art, kids martial arts in Bellevue strengthen the physical and mental skills that carry into every other part of life.
Building Confidence One Step (and Sash) at a Time
Coda and Henna’s story is one of consistency. Week after week, they show up, practice, and celebrate measurable progress; step by step, sash by sash.
For Bellevue parents searching for kids martial arts in Bellevue that nurture both confidence and character, Kung Fu offers the perfect blend of challenge and encouragement. Kids gain respect for themselves, their peers, and the process of working toward long-term goals.
Coda and Henna’s story is a great reminder that martial arts isn’t just for kids who need help staying focused—it’s for kids who are already doing great and want to go even further.
